Happy Earth Day!

Sunrise on Earth Day

On Earth day, we woke up at 5:30am to go on a sunrise hike at Meadowlark. It just so happened to be a weather alert foggy morning, so we didn't see the sun burst through the darkness. But, we found some other cool stuff (nesting geese, flowers, fountains, red breasted black birds doing mating calls, elders you had to hug) and the fog added the errie emotional hue to the strong need to protect and love our Mother Earth. We had breakfast at Whole Foods, played in the botanical gardens in the afternoon, around the house with Dada, and planted in the garden with Mama. You pound on the door to go outside, seize your tools, and dig in the ground with such fervor it makes me laugh out loud. Your concentrated face looks so intent as you plumb into the ground with your hoe neighbors stop by to watch the, "little helper." You are pretty attached to your mini gardening tools. You even want to take them up to bath in the evening!

You've been staying up until 8:30 at night and have been taking longer naps in the day ever since I gave up the crib and let you take your naps on me. After you nurse, you sit straddling me and clap your hands, blow kisses, and then dive into me for kiss attack. You never ever forget to kiss me first thing after your eyes adjust to the morning light and you stretch both arms over your head and roll over. Nice morning wet ones to start the day! After you divy up my kisses you do the rounds to Hana, Duma, & Hero. You like to play with my bracelets and try them on, blow kisses, visit with kids, ask adults to hold you, help me feed the animals, give treats, play with the cats, read books, sing songs, push rocket, and walk around the house. Yes, walk. You are walking so so so very well. Daddy and I clap and cheer for you and you smile proudly knowing your doing quite the big boy stroll. I'm counting on your Daddy to take some great videos of you when he comes back from Chicago.
