Maybe it's all the postpartum mochi ball pinkberry cravings we've been indulging in family style. Ode to pinkberry for always having mochi on supply! It cracks us up the way you (Shadden) beg for your own bowl of "just plain mochi balls." You love it as much as we do so I just have to let you enjoy your treats. Mochi fanatics unite!
I think another part of the Hawaii obsession is wistful thinking on the things we love to do when physically able. I can't wait to let you swim in those amazing pacific waters with kindred Hawaiian sealife spirits about you.
And perhaps the another is the realization that our next year is going to be dramatically different as the family has a baby on our schedule. My life premarriage and family had a bit more whimsy travel and adventure. Life today has more sacrifice, love, and the hardest for me to adjust to-practical planning-than I ever imagined. I miss feeling like every continent could be an option for the day. One strap of harness for a transportation ride and I'm easily cured of that notion. Freedom these days means home. Home meaning saying, "yes," to wild objects flying indoors. Baseball, football, balloon toss indoors? Sure! Drum, horn, and vocal productions? Belt it out baby! I might even find a video camera. Arms open for holding babies 24/7, zero carseats, clean bathrooms, home cooked meals, fresh produce, jammies, robes, comfy socks....ahhhhhh! Home is freedom!
