Always making friends!
It's been 94 degrees this week and you still love to play outside. I think you were meant for the beach life! So we went to the lake and had a completely, wonderfully, perfect day together. The only thing that could have made it better was if Daddy was with us and my camera battery didn't die. We had a nice morning waking up together with kisses and giggles, walking outside with Hero, playing in the house, eating tomato and egg sandwiches. You were tuckered and fell asleep so quickly I didn't even have time to stop at Target to pick up an umbrella. I just drove and you slept for two hours in the car! I had to wake you up at 11:30 to look for an umbrella and snacks. We couldn't find an umbrella but we played in the aisles and had too much fun cracking up over you being able to walk through the aisles of a store and grab toys and snacks along the way. We walked past the refrigerated section which makes a noise and you stood there staring at it and made Mommy crack up until you cracked up and walked and pointed and grabbed and reshelved and fumbled to the register taking our sweet time.
We drove to the beach we you playing with your shovels in the backseat. When we got there I set you on the sand while I set up our area. You took right off for the water and walked right into the lake with your shoes on! I scooped you up and took them off and you went right back at it again plopping your bum into the wet shore. I scooped you up and stripped you to your diaper and you got right into the water again. You entertained yourself while Mommy laid out our towels and changed clothes. Then you were ready to explore! You had to walk down the entire beach on both ends to see all the kids and visit the playground. We swam in the water, played with our toys, had snacks, and were thick in sand play when several kids asked to play too. We hosted the beach youth and you got to play with several big kids. I love, love, love it when parents call you a "baby." You watched intently and copied everything filling containers with sand, emptying water, packing sand, leaning your face close but not touching the other kids. You are so social and seem to have picked up the social etiquette without being taught. You know when to touch and when not to, where, and how, and when to take play seriously and when to laugh at silliness. If you take an item to give it back without being asked and always keep eye contact when interacting. You loved playing ball in the water laughing at the boy throwing the ball to us and throwing the ball back to him.
You walked and played so hard you fell asleep instantly when I changed you and put you in your car seat. I had to wake you up so Mommy could make a bathroom stop and you were so in your sleep you started to fall back asleep in my arms. This is huge for you because you wake so easily. I just love it when it happens and your body is slow and jelloish and your eyelids just too heavy to care about the goings on. It's a rare gem and I think you have always been like this since the womb. Reminds me of your early 4 month crawls-always speeding around, so alert-at 2 weeks the pediatrician said you were the most alert newborn she had EVER seen , your body always in motion-beginning in utero you always moved 10 times in 10 minutes. Even when you are about to sleep, you flit and flail your arms and legs, talk, and flop until the last second when your body gives into stillness.
You snapped awake at the sound of people and ate some vanilla ice cream before sleeping for another two hours the entire way home through traffic (yes!). I turned on the country station and cried to some song about a baby growing up and the time not lasting long. whew! Country music always makes me cry! It's so true too. You are always doing something cute and it is always changing. At home you wanted to play outside on your jungle gym, with the neighbors, and on the playground before we had Mexican food with Daddy for dinner, bath with mom, and beddybye. When you get sleepy, all you want is Mommy. So for dinner you wanted to sit on my lap and use the big fork to eat beans and rice and I held you tight so happy inside at home much you love me right now. You love so lovingly! Thank you for giving me perfect days and being my daily dream baby come true. I love you angelpie!
