Sunshine, Lollipops, & Rainbows

My Sweet Cherub,

Everyday, your Daddy and I do the birthday countdown. It is so bittersweet! It is so exciting to see you doing more and more everyday. When we were eating Thai food a worker asked me if you could communicate with me your wants. "Yes," I replied. You communicate so easily with us. You point and motion for things you want, clap at things your excited about, wave to ones you love, make a face when you do not want anymore food, go to get your snacks from my bag when you are hungry, the list goes on and on, you comprehend so many things!

I am no longer alarmed when you twist and turn your body in the Ergo to see something that interests you, because now it is the norm. I know Duma is running behind us because you let me know! You wave at him and sure enough, I turn my head to see and he is scampering behind Hero and I.

You are so pure, sweet, and playful right now. You love to have fun, make me laugh, and find funny things that make you laugh. You love to show affection, listen when spoken to you, and try to please me with your actions. You always look up at me to know I am watching you, to share an experience, and seek reassurance. I couldn't ask for a kinder hearted son than you.

The past few days have been overcast and rainy but they have not felt dreary. I laugh so much in the day because of you. You sleep on me for naps and wake up smiling at my face and nozzle into me. You cuddle in my arm or across my body all night long. We are such a pair. You flash me a dazzling smile and react voluptuously at the little things that catch your eye.

I love to watch you noticing everything around you and see what entices you, what you ask to get a little closer to and feel and touch. The other day I couldn't get into the house because you wanted to touch the tree and wrap your arms around it while I swung your body beneath. You know where the kitty toys are kept and ask to see them everyday so you can play with Hana and Duma. You picked up the sponge while I was cleaning the kitchen and started wiping around the kitchen! I had no idea you knew what a sponge was for but here you were your first time touching one acting like you've scrubbed a thousand things before.
