The house smells this_________ good. We inhale deep breaths of baking, cooking, candles, and sugary treats saying, "mmm!" The Christmas music is rocking and so are you. When you hear bells jingle you stop everything and start swaying and I say, "ohhh! our song" and we grab our instruments and commence rocking around the Christmas Tree. Our clothes are stained with cranberry juice, gingerbread, and frosting.
As much as I inwardly dread the end of summer sunshine beach days, I feel ministered by the winter. Looking up into the sky seeing the belt of Orion amidst accompanying stars and reaching silhouettes of mighty oak arms cradles something I didn't know was tired. Looking out the window and seeing a bare armed tree branch satisfies my soul. Because, we are inside. In a heated house. With a fire and down blankets. You're in fleece Christmas jammies, Duma's purring a hot spot in my legs, Hero's snuggled like a fawn in our feet, and I live in Daddy's early Christmas present-a new incredibly soft fleece robe. Ahhhhh. The winter burrow is ON! Hello, sleepy warm cuddles, restorative clarity...we are so in.

We skipped caroling because it was, "too cold." We stayed inside with a fire and sang our own songs and rang bells and Nana called and reminded me, this too cold excuse wouldn't fly in Michigan. Because in Michigan, it is actually cold. Meaning snow! Meaning temperature degrees in the teens (not my wimpy 40 degrees and windy but...it feels colder!). The winter feels so good because your not supposed to leave your house. Your supposed to bunker up and isolate and get crafty and bake and hibernate and peek on out for festive occasions, and scoot back home with red cheeks and settle back down for another fire and cozy socks, comfort food, and cuddling. All the running around excursions stop and we stop and it feels good to just be home.

You insisted on wearing my hat
You ask to draw everyday. It last for about two minutes but I'm still appeased. We signed up for some winter classes gymnastics and music and you have your indoor playground at My Gym. I can't help but miss Michigan and being home and surrounded by snow, family, and celebrating the Christmas countdown with Nana, but that will be next year!
We saw a fox in our neighborhood! Beautiful! It ran across our park and drank water and then headed back for the trees. Now, foxes are in all our prayers. I just hope they have enough food and places to run and sleep!
Morning jingle bell walks

We've been playing toilet time. My throat gets horse from singing, I tire of bathroom walls, and finally decided December is not the best time for this. So, you go on the big boy toilet every now and again but I haven't enforced it consistently and regularly so I'm probably botching this whole potty training thing. We have incorporated some pull ups which you think are pretty fun.

You have been loving our daily night walks through the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights with Hero. You have to see Santa and Baby Jesus and ask to see more until you've gone down every street and scoped out every lighted frame.
