Your Daddy & his PoPo (your Great Grandmother)
Time seems disproportionate to reality right now-I think it has something to do with our hospital stay(s).
Are you really one month old!?!?!! Unbelievable! Your GG was the only person to guess your due date correctly. She predicted you would be born on April 1st and share the SAME birthday as your Great Grandmother Evelyn Shih-PoPo.
This morning I looked at you and feel like you grew more overnight! You look so sweet with your eyes more defined now (extra asian), your cheeks all filled out, and your new double chin! The milk is working! You have been lifting your neck and holding up your head more today. You are so strong for your size!
You are the sweetest baby...my little cherub! Last week you began to really hone in on your focusing power. You focus on me and things when we nurse. You gaze up at me taking notice of everything. You are so aware! The pediatrician said she has never seen such an aware newborn and thought you were quite the genius! You are almost 8 lbs now and in the 70% for height at 21 inches. When we do tummy time you can roll yourself back over onto your back.
You continue to steal our hearts. Since you were born we noticed some distinguishing features about you:
1. You love to have your hands and arms up and out by your face
2. You are so expressive! You continually make the funniest facial expressions, puckering your lips, scrunching your eyebrows, and you have the most beautiful wide grin you have flashed since the second day I held you! I have to get a video of it sometime...
3. You strike a "power to the people pose" fervently raising one arm erect over your head
4. You sleep with your arms curled up by your head, with your mouth open, on your side, cuddled up as close as you can to whom is holding you.
5. You are a cuddlebear! Forget the crib, moses basket, and bassinet! All you want is to be snuggled up close constantly touching someone. You won't sleep for longer than 5-7 min. in an inanimate object, but if someone is holding you-you'll crash out for hours.
6. Did I mention your expressive personality?!?! You make an array of baby grunts and sounds talking it up!
7. You are a good baby! You give a warning, "wah" before you explode. You only cry for specific reasons: you are hungry, you have a dirty dip, you are uncomfortable, or you want to be bounced.
8. You are a no nonsense eater! If you have siblings they will have to watch out when you come you the table. You chow down instantly and then are done. No messing. This helps with your incredible weight gain and excretion (you poo like a rhino for almost every single diaper change)
9. You have a poopoo pucker when your working hard tugging on the tug boat
10. You are teeeeeeeeny weeeeeny! Your newborn clothes are all still too big for you! But you are gaining weight quickly. You no longer have any loose skin and are getting more and more chub lines, dents, and creases everyday.
11. You have a strong body! You keep your hands in a clench and enjoy holding hands and fingers and petting me when I hold you. You have fantastic kickers! I am constantly amazed at how powerful your little leggers are! This is a hazard for your mama at this point so burping you is difficult for me when you shake out those kickers.
12. You love to be bounced, held, and sung to. These things ease you at once.
Visitors you met in your first month:
-Nana
-Uncle Ryan
-GG & Grandpa
-Papa
-"Mimi" your Great Aunt Patricia Talbert
-Uncle Jeff
-Auntie Corin & cousin Mason
Look how loved you are! When you arrived everyone flew out to meet you! Lucky boy!!
Your Nana left last week and your Auntie Corin has been taking care of us for the past few days while Daddy is working at the hospital helping other NICU babies. We are so blessed to have such an incredible family!
