Sometimes, I feel like all I do is clean up messes. You probably feel like all I do is wash your hands! Since you turned five months and started crawling you have been the most curious of cats and it is only expounding with your ever increasing abilities. I have been a lax mom and not baby proofed. We have had outlet covers but that is about all. Your baby gate is still waiting to be put up at the top of the stairs! It's hard for me because I love your curiosity and zest. I love the excitement and vigor with which you seek out life and exploration EVERYDAY, in EVERY WAKING MOMENT. You literally never stop. Ever! I feel like it is the stage you are in developmentally and also a little bit of your personality too. The personality part, I hope you keep forever. I hope you always wake up like lightening with a smile brimming and kisses ready bounding across the bed for life to be lived. You have the sweetest most loving heart! I know with every mess the wheels are spinning and something is being processed. You are constantly learning and having fun which makes me sing inside because isn't that just the way it should be?
Right now our messes are hands in the plants, spilling the contents of Mommy's games on the floor, playing garbageman, toilet paper rolls, kleenex, baby wipes, ziplock baggies, and saran wrap emptied (I have raised the tp and such-a few times for learning after that it is wasteful), hands in the toilet, dog bowl, every cupboard emptied, books out of the bookcase, all your neatly folded clothes pulled from the drawers, food on the floor at every meal, water spilled from your cup, magazines ripped up, etc. While our house may make Martha Stewart cringe, it is spilling over in joy from your lively spirit.
These messes are easily cleaned up. I know they are just the beginning of a lifetime of messy wonders. Someday we'll share messier messes-emotional, spiritual, and mental dilemmas. I may even look back and wish I could have another day of baby housework in comparison to future teenage event filled days! I hope you always know that I'll be here by your side to help "clean up" whatever situation you find yourself. This messyboy bootcamp you have me in is training me for something right?!?!! Yikes!
